Miniature neodymium lasers /MNL/ as possible transmitters for fiber-optic communication systems. II - YAG:Nd/3 plus/ waveguide lasers
Abstract
The basic properties of waveguide lasers are examined, taking into account modes in planar waveguides, a waveguide laser with a Fabry-Perot resonator, and distributed feedback and distributed Bragg reflector resonators for waveguide lasers. Attention is also given to liquid-phase growth of epitaxial Nd:YAG layers, the refractive index profile and passive waveguiding, and questions regarding the laser operation of epitaxial YAG:Nd(3 plus) waveguide lasers.
