Design, selection and simulation of air conditioning systems by computer. Part 3: Program data preparation and reference manual
Abstract
The procedure to be followed in order to prepare the appropriate data sheets for punching is described. The determination of the heating and cooling energy requirements for an air conditioning system of a building is the application. The program computes the hourly heating or cooling load due to solar radiation through windows, heat transmission through external walls and roofs, partition walls, doors, etc., as well as the load due to occupancy, lighting, equipment, infiltration, and ventilation. Single and/or double glazing with any type of glass can be considered together with the shadow areas on the wall or window caused by elements of the facade or adjacent buildings, in which case the program adjusts the solar load accordingly. The program is based on the algorithms and procedures outlined in references 1 and 2. The storage of heat in the building structure is taken into account and the computation can be made for any day of the year for one or more months, for any orientation of the building and any geographical location for which climatic data are available.
