Application of laser measurement techniques to the pneumatic transport of fine particles
Abstract
The application of laser anemometry techniques to the measurement of local velocities in gas and liquid flows is now well established. The research shows that the laser anemometry is a useful and versatile tool for the measurement of velocity phenomena in a flowing gas-solid suspension. Although the technique is normally limited by solids loading ratio penetration, it can be used for particle wall velocity measurements in the densest of flows. It is evident that the anemometer could be developed to form part of a control loop in order to optimize plant performance.
