Numerical study of the evolution of a one dimensional fluctuation in a compressible flow limited by a nozzle
Abstract
An unsteady numerical method of finite difference for calculating a quasi-one-dimensional compressible perturbed flow was investigated theoretically. The method was used to investigate pressure, density, or temperature fluctuations in the outlet flow of a nozzle. A doubling of the perturbation was observed in some cases for which a part of the flow propagates as an acoustic wave, while the other part follows the flow. The FORTRAN program for the calculation is presented.
