Optical wave propagation in inhomogeneous turbulence
Abstract
The parabolic equation method is used to study optical wave propagation in inhomogeneous turbulence. Differential equations for the average field and second order mutual coherence functions are derived. The equations are similar in form to those obtained for homogeneous turbulence but are considerably more difficult to solve. Approximate solutions are obtained using the method of smooth perturbations and their region of validity is determined.
