Scale up study on several enzymatic processes for industrial application
Abstract
The feasibility of using glucoamylase immobilized on porous silica in the production of glucose from dextrin was studied; by means of laboratory investigation and a pilot plant setup the effects of this included theoretical examination of pore diffusion on enzyme selectivity, activity, and stability. Also investigated was the sue and optimization of a two-enzyme mixed immobilized reactor system of glucoamylase and glucose isomerase to produce fructose from either maltose or dextrin. The production and purification of dextransucrase and the immobilization and characterization of dextransucrase, beta-amylase, and mutaritase were accomplished, to determine a possible role for each in monosaccharide production.
