High speed chronophotography study of transonic turbulent flow
Abstract
The experiments described consist essentially of shadowgraph and streak photography, using separate or a series of flashes, of various flows showing shedding and formation of turbulent wakes. The interpretation of the observations is relevant to the knowledge of the unsteady aspect of turbulent flows concerning mainly the formation of large turbulent structures, their propagation, their diffusion, the formation of alternate streams, their evolution, their frequency, interactions with several vortex streets, and the appearance of intermittent phenomena. Examples of wing profile flows are presented.
