High current density cathode investigations

Before proceeding to convergent cathodes, it was modified as indicated. The first portion of this contract concentrated on reproducing the prior art of tungstate cathodes in a planar device. To summarize, while the emission has been reached for a brief period of time, the longer term emission is only about one-half of that expected. A program for improving the emission is still underway. In the meantime, two diodes with curved electrodes have been prepared. Also, a beam tester has been designed and is partially built.
