Design of a 800 watt high voltage power supply using a resonating transformer
Abstract
The advantages of an advanced resonating transformer concept in the design of high power traveling wave tube converters were evaluated at circuit level. Critical circuits such as the transformer drive stage and the high voltage rectifiers were studied. A complete breadboard of an 800 watt 8000 volt TWT supply was assembled. This breadboard was then tested successfully. The scope was limited to the electrical evaluation of the circuits developed. There was no attempt to adapt this design to space applications.
