Atmospheric attenuation and noise in satellite systems at 11/14 GHz
Abstract
Design values of earth-to-space atmospheric attenuation at 11 GHz and 14 GHz for the European region are presented which are based on the results of an extensive program of measurements using radiometers and which are being used as parameters for design of the European Communications Satellite System. Formulas for noise temperature in receivers in the satellite and in the earth stations are also presented to give a unified basis for system design.
