Adaptive speech multiplexing techniques for efficient spectrum utilization and bandwidth compression
Abstract
This report investigates the feasibility of adaptive speech multiplexing to improve the channel usage efficiency of military multichannel loop and trunk transmission systems. Three different techniques were contractually developed by the Army's Electronics Command, then extensively tested in the ECOM laboratories. Other techniques are also discussed. Descriptions of the techniques and the test program, as well as the results of the tests, are presented.
