The use of fluorescent screens in industrial radiography
Abstract
A test method, dubbed the 'perceptibility curve method,' is developed to ascertain the information content of a radiographic system. Barely perceptible radiation contrasts are measured, after a series of irradiations, and plotted. The information content of the radiogram equals the integral of the area under the perceptibility curve. Numerical analysis of SNR for screen/film detectors and n-screen film systems are compared; higher X-ray absorption and film response to light in the case of screen/film detectors are found without unacceptable deterioration of image quality.
