Calibration Data for the Ariel 5 Bragg Spectrometer
Abstract
The Ariel 5 spacecraft carries two conventional coarsely collimated flat crystal Bragg spectrometers for the study of night sky X-ray bright objects. The paper is concerned with the calibration of the graphite crystals (a number of graphs are provided with such information as the mosaic spread of graphite cleavage planes, values for the Bragg reflection integral of graphite cleavage planes, and the fractional reflection of the diffraction profile) and with the calibration of LiF crystals (with such graphic information presented as the reflection integral for first order LiF reflections, and the measured fractional reflection at the peak of the diffraction profile).
