Evidence for freezing of spins in binary alloys
Abstract
We report small angle neutron scattering measurements on Cu-Mn spin glass alloys in which the vertical gravitational fall of the neutron beam over a long flight path is utilised to effect a separation between the elastic and the inelastic components of the scattering. The latter shows a sharp decrease below a certain temperature which we identify as the freezing temperature for the spins in the alloy.
