Seyfert Galaxies, Quasars and Redshifts
Abstract
Aspects of the redshift controversy are examined, taking into account Arp's evidence. Empirical coincidences between quasars and galaxies led to conclusions that high redshift quasars are somehow associated with low redshift galaxies. These conclusions led to a questioning of the nature of some galactic redshifts. Attention is also given to Tifft's bands, the notorious pair NGC 4319-Markarian 205, Seyfert galaxies and the energy paradox, the history of Seyfert galaxies, galactic nuclei and quasars, Zwicky's almost quasars, Markarian galaxies, the spectra of Seyferts and quasars, and the distances of Seyferts and quasars.
