Green's functions for small disturbances of a plane incompressible Couette flow
Abstract
Rosen (1971) has analyzed the behavior of small three-dimensional disturbances of the velocity and pressure field in an unbounded incompressible viscous fluid against the background of a plane Couette flow, and has obtained an expression for a velocity-perturbation component for a specific type of boundary conditions. In the present paper, expressions are derived which describe the evolution of small three-dimensional disturbances in a plane incompressible viscous Couette flow in an unbounded space. The procedure employed is based on Fourier representation of the space variables.
