Analysis of strips and strip diode mounts in waveguide
A theoretical determination with experimental confirmation was made for the susceptance of narrow conducting strips in the transverse plane of a rectangular waveguide. The study includes single or multiple strips, as capacitive or inductive elements. The approach was based on a variational form for the susceptance, together with determination of a suitable current distribution along the strip. Both the coupling and the relative current distribution between multiple strips were also found. The analysis had direct application in the design of compact filters, broadband tuning circuits, matching networks and multi-diode circuits. The two-port equivalent circuit of a narrow strip located axially in a rectangular waveguide was also determined by theoretical analysis, with experimental confirmation.
