Investigations on radar installations for improved target recognition in the case of motion of the sea
Abstract
Technical and physical conditions concerning conventional radar in the maritime environment are examined and possibilities regarding an improved target recognition are considered. A description is presented of measurement and data processing devices. Operations and procedures involved in the evaluation of data are discussed. Attention is given to the description of the echo signal of a one-channel installation with a vertically polarized antenna, the evaluation of synchronous video signals in a two-channel radar installation, and the joint evaluation of sequentially received signals. An investigation is conducted regarding the reduction of disturbances, produced by sea motion, which can be obtained in one-channel operation in a real-time evaluation procedure.
