Magnetohydrodynamic Wave Propagation in a Cylindrical Magnetoplasma.
Abstract
A direct cylindrical wave solution is obtained to the vectordyadic equation describing wave propagation in a twodimensional plasma. The results are then applied to the magnetosphere, which is treated as an infinitely long cylindrical plasma immersed in a uniform azimuthal magnetic field. The effects of this investigation are analyzed both mathematically and physically, and the twodimensional cylindrical Alfven mode is then compared to the usual planewave solution.
