Natural convection of a compressible fluid in spherical layers
Abstract
A difference scheme is used to treat the problem of the convective motion of a compressible gas in the space between two concentric spheres, the outer of which is heated while the inner is cooled. Attention is concentrated on the heat transfer regimes and on the mutual interaction between heat transfer and flow processes. Results are in the form of temperature, velocity, and density fields and local and integrated heat transfer characteristics for regions with ratios of radii in the range 1.2-3 and Grashof numbers in the range 10 to the 3rd to 5 x 10 to the 5th.
