Scorpius X-1 - observations from the Salyut 4 station.
Abstract
Sco X-1 was observed five times from the Salyut 4 space station in the period from January 15 to 17, 1975, when the station was oriented toward the local zenith. It is found that the form of the source's energy spectrum in the region below 2 keV varied from observation to observation. Two possible interpretations of the data are considered: (1) emission from an optically thin plasma with variable absorption or accompanied by the appearance of an additional source in the low-energy region and (2) emission from a plasma with large optical thickness to Thomson scattering accompanied by the appearance of a 'soft' source.
