The contact binary HD 101799.
Abstract
The observations of Sistero and Sistero are reanalyzed. HD 101799 is found to be a contact system instead of semidetached as reported previously. New absolute dimensions for the components are derived. The secondary (less massive component) is found to be cooler and larger than believed earlier. Based on the size of the radius of the primary the binary may be a zero-age contact system. It is also concluded that the photometric mass ratio may be as reliable as the mass ratio derived from the radial velocity data. Key words: variable star - photometry - light elements
