Plane waveguide modes in lasers with a transverse optical inhomogeneity
Abstract
The paper studies the plane waveguide modes of a laser with an exponential-type (when x is greater than zero) transverse inhomogeneity of refractivity and gain in the presence of ideal reflection from the x = 0 plane. The case of the exponential change of refractivity (dielectric waveguide) which correctly describes the form of the waveguide modes and their angular divergence in the case of a relatively small saturated gain coefficient is analyzed. The effect on waveguide modes of the nonideality of reflection from the x = 0 plane is examined.
