Semi-empirical estimates of neutron production in shell implosions
Abstract
Analytic models of laser coupling, shell motion, DT-gas compression, thermal conduction, and neutron production are used to obtain relatively simple predictions of plasma conditions and neutron yield in DT-filled glass shells as functions of pellet and laser parameters. The predictions can be improved if a few parameters of the models are fixed by normalization against experiment.
