The objectives of radar target-data processing
Abstract
Problems of data processing for automatic target-tracking procedures are examined, taking into account situations in which the conventional algorithms of automatic target tracking will fail. In such situations, a human observer is needed for the correct interpretation of the obtained data. Attempts to replace the human observer by computational routines have not yet been entirely successful. Unsolved problems related to aspects of airspace surveillance are considered. Attention is also given to details concerning the procedures used in the case of an employment of unconventional radar systems.
