The alignment of gyro-stabilized platforms by means of stochastic-optimal control
Abstract
The linear model of a gyro-stabilized platform in the gravitational field of the rotating earth is considered and an investigation is conducted concerning the configuration of a discontinuous stochastic-optimal control circuit for the automatic alignment of a platform. A description is given of the optimal estimator and the optimal controller. It is shown that the selected linear control law satisfies a quadratic quality criterion. Advantages of the described procedure in comparison to conventional gyrocompass processes include a shorter adjustment time and improved filter effects.
