Chebyshev and Cauer lowpass filters with nonlinear limitation concerning the attenuation values
Abstract
Suitable economic approaches for obtaining the desired attenuation characteristics of a filter are considered. A description is given of a method which utilizes limiting curves for the extremum values. An iterative approximation procedure based on the Remes algorithm is employed. Chebyshev and Cauer lowpass filters can be approximated to continuous attenuation limiting functions. The computational effort involved in doing this is moderate. The procedure makes it possible to obtain a significant attenuation gain in the environment of the critical frequency. Such an improvement can be used to reduce the number of required circuit elements.
