What's new with receiver protectors
Abstract
The paper reviews some recent trends in receiver protector (RP) equipment, especially the renewed interest in gas-type TRs. The gas cleanup problem has been analyzed and the dc keepalive eliminated, plasma stages are integrated with variable basewidth PIN diodes, and pre-TR windowless discharge has been developed, all of which has enhanced the operating characteristics of gas-type TRs. Another recent trend in RPs is to combine several functions into the receiver protectors, such as receiver protection for synchronous pulses, passive protection against nonsynchronous pulses, clutter AGC, and video detector to monitor output leakage amplitude.
