Distribution of the electromagnetic power and the electromagnetic force over the regions on a linear inductiontype MHD generator
Abstract
The role of the (nonactive) end regions bordering on the active region of a linear inductiontype MHD generator in the power and force balance of the generator is examined. (The electromagnetic power transmitted from the induction coils to the liquid metal, and the electromagnetic force acting on the induction coil, which is of inverse sign and equal magnitude of the force acting on the liquid metal.) The magnetic properties of the inlet and outlet regions are calculated by a finitedifference technique, using a twodimensional formulation of the problem.
