Optical and ultraviolet line emission of ionized iron in peculiar stars.
Abstract
The emission spectrum of Fe ii and Fe iii is characterized by broad humps that are visible in the ultraviolet spectrum of some peculiar stars, like Lyrae, HD 200775 and Nova Serpentis 1970. This line emission could affect the measure of the interstellar hump at 2175 A. Some results on Ti ii are also shown. A new approach is discussed to the quantitative analysis of the lowresolution spectra of peculiar variables (novae, Car).
