Observations of the radio galaxies 3C 264 and 3C 315.
Abstract
This paper presents high-resolution maps of 3C 315 and 3C 264 made with one-mile and 5-km radio telescopes. The structure of 3C 264 at 2.7 and 5.0 GHz is similar to that observed at 0.4 and 1.4 GHz, though the decrease in source size with frequency continues. The maps of 3C 315 reveal a structure quite unlike that of any sources mapped hitherto. The sources are interpreted in terms of the thermal-pressure-confinement models of radio galaxies.
