Correlated Halpha and continuum variability of X Persei A.
Abstract
An observation is reported which shows a rapid collapse of the H-alpha emission line in X Per A, associated with a flare in the continuum. There is some evidence that this anticorrelated variability, occurring on a time scale of 450 s, is associated with the massive secondary in the X Per binary system.
