Systematic trends in the motions of suspected stellar companions.
Abstract
It is noted that orbital elements presented as evidence of unseen companions of certain stars have an unlikely distribution with respect to high inclinations. This distribution is shown to be a result of systematic errors in micrometric separations. The elements of the star BD +4 deg 3561 are examined, and no evidence for a real periodic motion is found.
