Phase quantization in radio signal detection
Abstract
The book expounds the basic principles of phase sampling and quantization in digital methods of signal detection, and describes the design, operation, and application of parametric phase quantizers. Topics covered include quantization of the phase of a signal of unknown and known frequency, hardware methods of phase quantization, the characteristics of semiconductor diodes used in parametric phase quantizers (PPQs), resonance characteristics and phase selectivity of systems with variable parameters, single-loop and double-loop PPQs, distributed parametric amplifiers as phase quantizers, statistical characteristics of single-loop PPQS, quadrature quantization, frequency locking, and a comparative evaluation of the noise stability of different methods of signal detection.
