Laser diagnostics in molecular beams - Quantum state dependent velocity distribution in a supersonic Na/Na2-beam
Abstract
The combination of laser induced fluorescence and the molecular beam technique have been used to investigate the correlation of velocity distribution and internal energy in a supersonic Na/Na2 beam. Three different methods for performing these investigations are examined: (1) the time of flight method via optical pumping, (2) the Doppler-shifted laser induced absorption method, and (3) the Doppler-shifted laser induced emission method.
