Numerical Simulation of the Collapse of a Cavitation Bubble
Abstract
A numerical simulation of the collapse of a cavitation bubble, which causes noise, loss of efficiency, and erosion is analyzed. After imposing boundary conditions, namely, the tangency condition and pressure conditions, the flow equations are numerically solved by splitting the timedependent problem into a series of stationary outer Dirichlet problems. The case of collapse in the vicinity of a free surface is considered and several simulations are performed. Numerical results are found to be in agreement with experimental data.
