Epoch extraction of composite signals
Abstract
A composite signal is regarded as a superposition of several wavelets, where a wavelet is defined as a one-sided finite energy signal. A technique for the extraction of epochs of wavelets based on the initial value theorem is proposed which works satisfactorily for overlapping identical and nonidentical signals. The technique does not assume any knowledge of the waveforms of the constituent signals. In this technique, an appropriate window function is chosen in the high frequency region to perform a band-pass operation on the signal. Several illustrative examples are given. The technique is also applied to an actual speech segment and pertinent results are presented.
