Numerical analysis of an elastic waveguide with rectangular cross section by the model expansion method
Abstract
An algorithm is presented for the modalexpansion analysis of elastic waveguides of arbitrary cross section containing isotropic media. Electromagnetic fields in the elastic waveguide are expanded into a set of mode functions in the parallel plate waveguide and both velocity distribution curves and field distributions are calculated by approximate solutions using an extrapolation method. Numerical results are presented for longitudinal modes in an elastic waveguide of rectangular cross section.
