Technique for direct approximation of logarithmic transfer characteristics of digital filter
Abstract
A method is proposed for a digital filter, minimizing the rms error in the approximation of any given log transfer characteristic. A digital filter with the desired characteristic can be constructed by cascading fundamental digital filters of the same structure and of different delays. The fundamental filter is of recursive type with simple structure and the coefficients are determined by a term proportional to the Fourier coefficient, i.e., the cepstrum, of the transfer function and a term proportional to its square.
