Stability of the LangdonDawson Advective Algorithm
Abstract
An advective differencing scheme discussed by Godfrey (1974) is considered. The basic approach of advective differencing involves the numerical integration of Maxwell's equations along their vacuum characteristics. The improved stability associated with advective differencing schemes is mainly due to the less conventional methods of determining the mesh currents usually employed with advective differencing. An analysis of the actual LangdonDawson onedimensional algorithm is conducted and a corresponding multidimensional differencing scheme is suggested.
