Unsteadystate mass transfer involving a heterogeneous chemical reaction for laminar flow past a sphere
Abstract
The process of unsteadystate mass transfer between a spherical particle and a viscous laminar flow is analyzed for Reynolds numbers up to 40, in the case where a chemical reaction takes place at the particle surface. A finitedifference solution of the equation of convective mass transfer is obtained for Peclet number ranging from 1 to 1000. The transient time at various Peclet numbers is determined, along with the intensities of the diffusion flows to the chemically reacting particle. The total mass flow is computed.
