Demodulator structures for pulse-frequency-modulated signals
Abstract
A frequency domain approach is used to derive the structure of a minimum mean-square-error (MMSE) demodulator for PFM signals in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise. The optimal structure is derived without restrictions in the signal to noise ratio and a sub-optimal MMSE demodulator structure (that can be implemented by standard circuitry) is proposed for implementing the optimal demodulator.
