Quasi-CW high-power mercury laser
Abstract
The reported investigation involves a discharge operation in pure Hg vapor which is contained in a quartz tube. Quasi-CW laser action was demonstrated with the aid of an experiment in which an increase of the current pulse length from 25 microsec to 2 msec produced an increase in the duration of laser emission from 10 microsec to 0.5 msec without a significant change in the laser peak power. The dependence of laser power on the vapor pressure and the discharge current was also investigated.
