Solidification of droplets on a cold surface
Abstract
Title problem has been investigated theoretically and experimentally. In the theory a simple model of two-dimensional radial flow has been used. The degree of flattening of a droplet depends upon the Weber, Reynolds and Peclet numbers, and upon the freezing constant U, taken from the solution of a Stefan problem. The agreement of the theory with experiments is not bad if the constant U is taken for the Stefan problem with the isothermal cooling surface.
