Comet Harlan (1976g)
Abstract
A. R. Klemola, Lick Observatory, reports that Eugene A. Harlan has discovered a comet on plates exposed with the 51-cm double astrograph. The following positions are available: 1976 UT R. A. (1950) Decl. m1 Observer Apr. 27.31042 13 34.1 +45 22 15 Kowal May 3.2480 13 27 16.0 +44 53 18 15 Harlan 3.3328 13 27 10.7 +44 52 46 " 6.31736 13 23 56.00 +44 32 56.0 15 " C. T. Kowal (Hale Observatories). 46-cm Schmidt telescope. This tentative prediscovery image was identified before the sense of motion of the comet had been definitely established. E. A. Harlan (Lick Observatory). Comet small and diffuse with strong condensation; no tail. Measurer: Klemola. The May 3 positions refer to the beginning and end of the trail.
