Utilization of the equation of balance of turbulent energy for calculation of submerged flat and axisymmetric jets in an incompressible fluid
Abstract
A semiempirical method is proposed for calculating a planar and axisymmetric jet in a self-similar flow region. The initial equations of continuity, motion, and turbulent energy balance are closed with the aid of some semiempirical hypotheses. A unified method for solving these equations is given. The values of the empirical constants entering into the approximate relations for shear stress, diffusion, and dissipation of turbulent energy were determined through numerical experiments.
