Cross-modulation of very strong radio waves in the LF and MF ranges
Abstract
The paper calculates the coefficients of the ionospheric cross modulation of high-power (1000 kV and higher) radio waves in the frequency range 150-1605 KHz for arbitrary intensities of useful and interfering waves and taking account of self-interaction. The ionosphere is modeled as a layer of uniform plasma and the interaction of two plane waves is studied: an interferring wave which is amplitude-modulated and a useful wave. The dependence of the cross modulation coefficients of the two waves on the power of the useful transmitter is determined.
