The stability of a plane two-layer Poiseuille flow
Abstract
The stability investigation reported makes use of the theory of infinitesimal perturbations. It is found that the critical Reynolds numbers are significantly higher than in the case of a plane one-layer Poiseuille flow. The critical Reynolds numbers are computed on the basis of the linear theory and a nonlinear analysis is considered, taking into account an interaction model described by Craik (1970). Two graphs with stability diagrams are presented.
