Improving strain-measurement accuracy when using shunt calibrations
Abstract
The paper describes a method of shunt calibration of a strain gage bridge for improving strain measurement accuracy. The method consists of calculating both the equivalent compression strain and the equivalent tensile strain for a shingle shunt unbalance. The shunt output equation and the strain output equation are equated for the particular bridge configuration used, and then the desired equivalent strain is solved for.
