Pulsed power-supply systems with push-pull power transformers
Abstract
A description is given of two variants of a basic circuit concept which uses two switching transistors to obtain a pulsating rectangular ac voltage of high frequency from an input dc voltage. The ac voltage is applied to the primary winding of a toroidal core power transformer. Full-wave rectification is obtained for the current in the secondary winding of the transformer. The circuit-design principle used for the control of the pulse width has very favorable control characteristics. An optimal adjustment, which is independent of the switching frequency, can be obtained in the case of rapid changes in the input voltage or the load current.
